PLUS Challenge
20 March 2010

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) is organising the Play.Learn.United thru Sports (PLUS) Challenge for all Secondary Schools. Through the PLUS Challenge, schools are encouraged to form an Under-16 team comprising either all boys or all girls team to compete in Futsal.

Futsal is a very popular game played across many countries worldwide. Similar to street soccer, each team comprises 5 members playing on an indoor pitch. The rules are simple - score as many goals as you can in 20 minutes!

So do you want a new sporting experience for your students; filled with excitement of goals scoring? A chance to learn the value of teamwork? Get to enjoy the passion of competition?

Still considering? ... All selected teams will receive jersey tops + two Futsal balls!

And winners stand to win $1,000*

Wait no more, sign your students up for the PLUS Challenge 2010.

Winner (25 February 2010)

Filzah Amani - Serangoon Secondary School

The picture above shows that every different force has a part to play. Every force must be vigilant and must look out for its resident. We must also fight for our own battle. We must … protect Singapore. We must also look out for each other and should not only rely just on the protection forces. Nobody owes Singapore a living, so we must build our nation together hand in hand.

Winners (27 February 2010)

Md Haiekal - Dunearn Secondary School

This picture depicts an image where the team which scores work together as a team to get the goal. There are people celebrating which means they are happy. The ball has 1 crescent and 5 stars representing Singapore and the goal which they score can be considered as the glory of Singapore. And in order to achieve it, everyone must help each other, hand in hand. The supporters which are not included in the match also play a part. Overall, I think this picture wants to send a message that everyone plays a part or have responsibilities to help Singapore achieve glory.

Terenjit Singh

To many people, they would say that these spices remind them of Indians, but to me, it doesn’t. To me, these spices show the different kinds of people in Singapore living together. It also shows that even though we are different races and religion, we are all humans. It relates like even though they are all different spices, tey are categorised as spices. This shows that we have to live together in harmony because even though we are of a different race and religion, we are all the same in HEART.

The Grand Final of the PLUS Challenge 2010 was held at the HomeTeam Academy on 20 March 2010.
