The Community Engagement Programme and its Capability Development Programmes
3 December 2009
The Community Engagement Programme (CEP) Secretariat in the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) conducts capability development programmes for CEP community members under the Community Engagement Programme (or CEP for short). MHA is the coordinating ministry for the CEP.
The CEP Secretariat/MHA co-partners with the Home Team Academy on the following key programmes:
The Community Engagement Executive Development Programme
The Train the CEP Trainer Programme.
In addition, CEP community leaders and partners visit the Home Team Academy and other establishments to learn more about security and emergency preparedness under the Sg United Journeys organised by the CEP Secretariat/MHA.
Community Engagement Executive Development (CEED) Programme
The CEED Programme is set up to equip CEP community leaders and practitioners with the necessary skills and knowledge. This has been initiated in response to the feedback from community leaders that they need training to help manage and calm the ground at times of communal tension.
The programme is done on a modular basis over three Saturdays, with flexibility in when participants take a particular module. The first run was held in January 2008.
Train The CEP Trainer Programme
The Train the CEP Trainer Programme is a followup to a suggestion from CEP community leaders. This is for those who have graduated from the CEED Programme. The aim is to train the CEP community leaders so that they could, in turn, go back to their clusters to train other community leaders.
SG United Journey
Separately, there are outreach and engagement programmes with other groups under the SG United Journey.
If you have a suggestion or would like to work with the CEP Secretariat/MHA, please contact us.
