'Unity' - themed Community Event

CEP Exhibition The much anticipated event, Unity: Community Bonding Day 2008 was held on 20th September 2008 at Pasir Ris Central - it aspires to strengthen community bonding by promoting greater understanding of the various religious in Singapore.
Residents from all walks of life started strolling in at half past noon. Greeting them with our door gifts (a total of 9 items) were our officers from Team Alpha. With the carnival ticket, residents are able to enjoy door-gifts, pop-corn, candy-floss and a chance to win the attractive lucky draw prizes. The residents from Apex Harmony Lodge were invited to join us for this fun-filled. A coach was arranged to ferry the residents to the event venue together with the nurses and medical staffs. Our Officers boarded the coach and assisted the elderly up and down the coach. On top of enjoying the line-up of stage entertainment, the residents also took part in the lucky-draws. Each of them bring back a set of door-gifts too. Throughout the event, our dedicated Officers were present to see to their needs eg. going to the toilet, making sure everyone has sufficient bottle of mineral water, etc.

Not forgetting the children, game booths such as penalty shoot out, looping dinosaur and throw cans were made available for them.

Another highlight of the event is the signing of the Harmony Labels by members of public in support for racial and religious harmony.

Among the eighteen prizes five were sponsored by National Crime Prevention Council. Enticing the kids was none other than the inflatable bouncer and the choo-choo train.
The Kompang beats echoed at Pasir Ris Central upon the arrival of our Guest of Honour Minister of Defence, Mr Teo Chee Hean. He was welcomed by the entourage which include our Commander, AC Lim Kok Thai and Dy Commander, Supt Yap Shao Peng. As part of the welcoming performance, we have the Silat by Al-Istighfar Mosque demonstrating the art of defence. This was followed by a graceful dance performance presented by Bethesda Pasir Ris Mission Church.
Minister Teo then addressed our participants on the prerequisite of a harmonious society; to build trust during peaceful times amongst the citizens regardless of race and religion, to maintain the trust which will unite us during crisis time. Next in line was the performance from Al-Istighfar Mosque, Children of the World & Zikir Zapin performance by the children of special needs.

Participating agencies were presented with a plaque as a token of appreciation from Pasir Ris NPC by the G.O.H.

As a form of support for racial & religious harmony, our G.O.H appended his signature on the Harmony Labels.

Touring of the exhibition area by the G.O.H & VIP entourage ensue. The exhibitions area encompasses the exhibits from Tyco Fire, Security & Services, Home Security Alarm Services, National Environment Agencies, Pasir Ris Family Service Centre, Al-Istighar Mosque, Bethesda Pasir Ris Mission Church. Showcasing the different religion and their practices in Singapore were the exhibits from Inter Religion Confidence Circle. Posters on Safe Cycling were display to remind residents the importance to practice safe riding.
Rounding up the show, we have the fun loving snake charmer show attracted another group of audience mainly the children. Seated among them were residents from Apex Harmony Lodge.
