The Singapore Polytechnic-Civil Defence Lionhearter Club was officially launched on 27 Oct 2009. One of the roles of the Lionhearter Club is to provide humanitarian assistance during overseas mission. The maiden overseas mission was a deployment to Pariaman, Padang City, from 13 Oct to 15 Oct, to help the earthquake victims.

DPM Wong called for all to maintain vigilance against the threat of terrosim in times of economic downturn, and also emphasised the need to continue reaching out to youths.
