The National Community Safety and Security Programme (CSSP) Awards Ceremony on 18 July 2007

At the 10th anniversary of the Community Safety and Security Programme (CSSP) and the National CSSP Awards Ceremony at the Home Team Academy on Wed, 18 July 2007, DPM Wong expressed hope that more youths be involved in CSSP projects, like the involvement of some in organising the recent CSSP Challenge Camp. He commended the CSSP practitioners for helping to progress CSSP into one that through tackling safety and security concerns together, created cohesive communities. Such communities are where trust and confidence will stand us in good stead in a crisis.

本地13个由不同群体设立的社区安全与治安计划,获得表扬,以肯定他们在维持社会安定方面作出的贡献。其中一支获奖队伍"先驱第六分区",把一些外来劳工培训为本地的治安大使,让他们向其他外劳传达防范罪案的意识。

另一支队伍,波那维斯达民防执行委员会则设立小贩中心急救箱,向小贩传达防范罪案和火患的讯息。

义顺南民防执行委员会和导游学会联合成立的社区紧急应变计划是另一个得奖计划。它为导游免费提供应对危机的培训,以在紧急情况发生时,更好地协助旅客。

义顺南民防执行委员会主席苏国耀说,去年在我国举行的世界银行会议,启发他设立这个培训计划。

"那时我就刚好遇到一个老朋友,他是当导游的。他跟我讲说,这个会议将是新加坡唯一最大的会议,那么在防恐和防备方面必须做到滴水不漏的。那我就问他,您作为一个导游,您有没有信心或者经验,怎样去处理危机。他很老实地告诉我,没有办法,因为他们没有受训过,也没有真正地了解什么是危机。这相当糟糕,因为假设他是我们的防线,就是我们的导游,将会影响我们这次的会议。"
