New documentary “One Voice”

Date : 9 January 2012

This new documentary showcases Singapore’s efforts to rally communities and build social resilience following the MHA’s announcement on the arrests and detentions of members of Jemaah Islamiyah (JI) in 2002. Marking 10 years since the arrest announcement, the two-parter also examines what else society needs to do.

In Jan 2002, Singaporeans woke up to the news of the arrests of members of the terrorist group, Jemaah Islamiyah by the Singapore authorities. After the initial shock, Singaporeans rallied together with many ground initiatives to denounce terrorism, counter extremist ideology, and foster greater social cohesion. Ten years on, we look at how Singaporeans, of all races and religions, responded to the threat of terrorism with one voice.
